Our grandparents have always told us from a very young age that we should always be able to stick up for ourselves in any situation. This was very sound advice indeed because as we got older, we realised that there were some people in the world that were not as nice as we were. This meant that we found ourselves in situations which were out of our control and we didn’t stand up for ourselves, and we would have to live a young life of getting bullied through private school and then on to secondary school. The hope is that people would mature as they got older and so as we move into adult life there was no expectation that this would continue. Unfortunately, the world that we live in still has people who will try to push you around even into adulthood and beyond.
This is why we as parents are realising the importance of self-defence and why we are signing our kids up for boxing in Reading. If you as a parent, are trying to get your child interested in sports and you also want them to be able to take care of themselves then a self-defence class is the perfect answer. If you are still somewhat reluctant to enrol your kid in a class then the following benefits of doing so can help you to make a better parental decision.
- It empowers your child – Every kid should be able to defend themselves and as a parent, it is your job to provide them with the skills that they need in order to do so. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with learning boxing for example and your child will be taught that it is only to be used for self-defence or if they decide to take up sport, then they can use it in the ring.
- It addresses the bullying issue – We want our children to have the best education possible and this will not be achievable if they are being constantly bullied throughout the school year. It is enough for a bullied to know that your child is taking self-defence classes to encourage them to move on to much easier pickings. While learning self-defence, your child will also learn about self-discipline and having respect for others.
- It teaches many life skills – There are so many things we your child to learn in this life and you cannot be expected as a parent to cover them all. This is where your self-defence classes and particularly boxing comes into the equation because your kid will be taught about respect, courage, about using reasonable force and most importantly discipline.
Hopefully, these three reasons will encourage you to look into signing your kids up for some boxing classes or some other form of self-defence. You are providing your kid with the tools for life so that they can be confident and successful throughout their lives. As a parent, you do not want your child to have to go through life worrying and being scared about what other people might do.
